Aluminium pastes for AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) by AVL METAL POWDERS n.v.

Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC)

Metallic Functional Powders (MFP) for Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (AAC)

AAC (Autoclaved Aerated Concrete) products are manufactured with cement, quicklime, sand, slurry, water, and aluminium. The pores in these building materials are generated by the reaction of fine aluminium particles with the alkaline aerated concrete mass.

The AAC market has many benefits in comparison to traditional building materials. It has excellent insulating properties (temperature & noise), relatively high compressive strength, easy to handle and excellent fire retarding properties. The final product of AAC are blocks, panels, reinforced panels, lintels and insulation boards.

AVL developed a wide range of powders and pastes with specific properties required for all types of AAC. The aluminium powders of AVL are easy dispersible in water due to the additives on the pigment. A wide range of fine, medium and coarse powders covers the broad spectrum in the market. Beside powders, pastes with diethylene glycol or water can be supplied. Also retarded pastes are available.

Plasters and Mortars

Metallic Functional Powders (MFP) for Plasters and Mortars

Aluminium powders are used as additives in rendering mortars to compensate for shrinkage in the base layer due to the pore formation in mortars, screeds, and sealing compounds.

Shrinkage is caused due to the use of lime mortar in exterior walls as a base rendering. The functional aluminium powders are added in the dry mixture. Once the water is added to the mixture, the gas reaction starts a certain time after the plaster or mortar is applied on the wall. This reaction compensates the shrinkage.
